Hanoi Spring Football League 2026: Cử Long Sports Team Wins Opening Match Before 5,000 Spectators

On the morning of March 15, 2026, at Hang Day Stadium (now Hang Day Stadium, Hanoi), the spring football league organized by the Tonkin Sports Federation officially opened with the first match between Cua Long and Phuoc Dong teams. The match took place amid an atmosphere of rare excitement after years of interruption due to war. Cua Long, with their high-intensity pressing from the opening minutes, pressured the opposing defense. Striker Tran Van Thanh scored the opening goal in the 12th minute following a coordinated combination with midfielder Nguyen Van Hung. The second goal came in the 35th minute from a penalty kick by defender Le Van Minh, after a Phuoc Dong player committed a foul in the penalty area. In the second half, although Phuoc Dong narrowed the gap in the 68th minute, Cua Long maintained their control and secured a 2-1 victory. Referee Tran Dinh Tho officiated the match fairly, issuing only one yellow card. A total of 5,000 spectators came to the stadium to cheer, including representatives of the administration and many French merchants living in Hanoi. According to Mr. Hoang Duc Tri, representative of the Tonkin Sports Federation, this year's tournament gathers 8 teams from Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Nam Dinh, promising an exciting season. The next match will take place next Sunday between Hai Phong and Thang Long teams.
