About Me

I am a Professor of Bilingual Education at the School of Education at Brooklyn College, City University of New York (CUNY).  I also serve as the Bilingual Program Coordinator housed within the Department of Childhood, Bilingual, and Special Education Department. I received my doctorate in Urban Education from the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center in 2012.   Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a dual language teacher and coach for more than a decade.

At Brooklyn College, I teach undergraduate and graduate courses focused on reading and biliteracy.  My research areas include bilingual education, bi-literacy, reading assessments, writing, and bilingual teacher education.  I have also worked at a consultant at a variety of schools with dual language, bilingual and English as a New Language Programs.
